For the third year in a row, our hometown of Crete, Nebraska, will be filled with pumpkins, scarecrows, and family-friendly festivities during the Great Pumpkin Festival. This year’s festival is Oct. 8 and we’re super excited to be a part of this community event, organized by the Crete Chamber of Commerce.
Like last year, Postcard Jar will be sponsoring the photo booth, complete with straw bales and lots of pumpkins!
You can stop by the photo booth and have us take your picture, or take your own, and it’s FREE! Here are some of our favorite pics from last year.
We’ll also be right downtown on Main Street selling Crete postcards and a few postcard jars, so stop by and see us if you’re in town. We’d love to meet you!
There are lots of other great activities downtown, as well. This year, almost all of the festivities will be on Main Street in Crete, between 13th and 10th Streets. There will be lots of carnival games for kids, a zip line, food court, craft show, farmer’s market, and even a petting zoo.
And of course, there will be lots of pumpkins! Main Street is usually lined with pumpkins and you can take a hay rack ride from downtown to Old Mill Park to select and pick a pumpkin of your own.
There will also be great entertainment in the center of town at 12th and Main Street from noon to 5 p.m. There will be performances by several of our local Doane University groups, as well as the Crete High School drum line and a local favorite, the Gold Star Martial Arts’ Team Velocity. There will be dances, cloggers and polka music, and a pumpkin pie eating contest at 4 p.m. that should be fun to watch.
We’ve really enjoyed Crete’s Great Pumpkin Festival and look forward to meeting new people and seeing this wonderful community come together again this year. If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you in Crete, Oct. 8!
